Entropy of Three–Dimensional Asymptotically Flat Cosmological Solutions

چکیده
The thermodynamics of three-dimensional asymptotically flat cosmological solutions that play the same role than the BTZ black holes in the anti-de Sitter case is derived and explained from holographic properties of flat space. It is shown to coincide with the flat-space limit of the thermodynamics of the inner black hole horizon on the one hand and the semi-classical approximation to the gravitational partition function associated to the entropy of the outer horizon on the other. This leads to the insight that it is the Massieu function that is universal in the sense that it can be computed at either horizon. aResearch Director of the Fund for Scientific Research-FNRS Belgium. Non-asymptotically AdS/dS Solutions and Their Higher Dimensional Origins
We look for and analyze in some details some exact solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with one or two Liouville-type dilaton potential(s) in an arbitrary dimension. Such a theory could be obtained by dimensionally reducing Einstein-Maxwell theory with a cosmological constant to a lower dimension. These (neutral/magnetic/electric charged) solutions can have a (two) black hole horizon(...
متن کاملExact Description of Black Holes on Branes II: Comparison with BTZ Black Holes and Black Strings
We extend our recent discussion of four-dimensional black holes bound to a two-brane to include a negative cosmological constant on the brane. We find that for large masses, the solutions are precisely BTZ black holes on the brane, and BTZ ‘black strings’ in the bulk. For smaller masses, there are localized black holes which look like BTZ with corrections that fall off exponentially. We compute...
متن کاملThe Flat Limit of Three Dimensional Asymptotically Anti–de Sitter Spacetimes
In order to get a better understanding of holographic properties of gravitational theories with a vanishing cosmological constant, we analyze in detail the relation between asymptotically anti-de Sitter and asymptotically flat spacetimes in three dimensions. This relation is somewhat subtle because the limit of vanishing cosmological constant cannot be naively taken in standard Fefferman-Graham...
متن کاملStatic Axially Symmetric Solutions of Einstein-yang-mills Equations with a Negative Cosmological Constant: Black Hole Solutions
We investigate static axially symmetric black hole solutions in a four-dimensional Einstein-YangMills-SU(2) theory with a negative cosmological constant Λ. These solutions approach asymptotically the anti-de Sitter spacetime and possess a regular event horizon. A discussion of the main properties of the solutions and the differences with respect to the asymptotically flat case is presented. The...
متن کاملEntropy of 2+1 dimensional de Sitter space in terms of brick wall method
We calculate the statistical entropy of a scalar field on the background of three-dimensional De Sitter space in terms of the brick wall method and finally derive the perimeter law of the entropy. ∗Electronic address: [email protected] 1 Entropy of black holes has an universal area law [1] and the entropy of the well-known Schwarzschild black hole satisfies the area law by means of thermal...
